If you can't walk in them, you can't have them...no matter how cute they are. Every woman needs a pair of extremely comfortable work appropriate pumps. You should be able to walk to lunch and transition from the office to happy hour without a wardrobe change.

For occasions where heels aren't appropriate a great pair of ballet flats should do the trick. Keep them simple in neutral shades such as tan, black, white, or pink. And make sure they have some padding because flats can be too flat.

These shoes are a perfect 10...elegant, well made, sexy, amazeballs! These shoes might be all I need in life. They are a bit high with a 4inch covered heel and 0.5inch platform, so basically you'll be teetering around town on 3.5inch heels ...but you'll be doing it in style! These are what you wear when you take cabs to work...although after paying for the shoes I'm not sure how you'll afford the cabs!

Ummm so Oprah wants everyone to own a great Tennis shoe or Sneaker, or whatever you call them, but I have no use for this in my life. You cannot go wrong with a great leather boot and Frye invented the too-cool-for-school biker boot. These slouch boots are a great mix of traditional style with a modern flair. Pair these with skinny jeans (especially cropped ones), let them peek out under bootcut cords, or show them off with denim shorts.

Very few shoes can work all year round, especially in a place with really seasons like DC. Hunter boots are the original "Wellie" bootmaker and a pair of these boots in green or navy are perfect for rain, sleet, and snow. You can also buy special Wellington socks that slip inside the boot and make them perfect for the winters (fyi UGG boots are NOT waterproof...trust me I learned that lesson the hard way) The fleece wellie sock is just $30; a small price to pay to keep your tosies warm!
